Two weeks ago I finally got myself an iPhone 4s! It was a birthday present from my parents and I'm absolutely loving it. Of course I've been instagramming more than before, it's much easier now that I can do it from my phone! I'll try and make My life in photos posts more frequently now :)

From left to right: my new phone, my first iPhone selfie, lovely flowers, walking in the park, Euripide's Medea, birthday cake, my grandma's dog, birthday dinner w/ friends, another selfie

Ageless Derma Eye Cream

 photo age_eye_zps8542c2e0.png
Putting years of experience and knowledge in the field of scientific research at your service, Ageless Derma now offers an anti-aging eye cream that will put an end to your problems for good. With the help of two natural ingredients, Retinol and Vitamin K, Ageless Derma Eye Cream makes puffy eyes, dark circles and Crow’s feet disappear quickly.

The area around our eyes is one of the most delicate of our whole body, because it’s extremely thin and sensitive. With aging, the skin in the area around the eyes gets even thinner, so blood vessels show beneath the skin and make the dreaded under-eye dark circle appear, giving an always tired and stressed look to the face. That’s when the Ageless Derma Eye Cream comes to rescue. Vitamin K, which is one of the main ingredients of Ageless Derma’s Eye Cream, has been proved to have a capital importance in erasing dark circles: it reduces the clotting of blood, so that the area under the eyes looks significantly brighter and younger.

The other main natural ingredient found in Ageless Derma Eye Cream is Retinol, the purest form of Vitamin A. Recent scientific studies results have shown that Retinol is crucial for reducing and preventing wrinkles. It makes the skin more plump, elastic and young through the increase of enzyme activity and cell renewal activity, truly making the skin not just appear, but also feel younger. According to different magazines such as the British Journal of Dermatology, Retinol-based skin treatments work as efficiently as prescription-strength retinoids are in erasing wrinkles, but they’re much less expensive.

The Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology has recently published a research study done by the Nippon Medical School in Tokyo, Japan, which showed that a cream containing 2% of Vitamin K and 0.1% of Retinol and Vitamins E and C significantly reduced wrinkles, puffy eyes and dark circles. Moreover, 80% of the subjects showed greatly diminished dark circles and wrinkles after applying the cream twice a day for just 8 weeks.
Vitamin E and C are also contained in Ageless Derma Eye Cream. Those two natural ingredients are proved to offer an antioxidant effect and quick skin growth, fighting against dark circles and wrinkles at the same time.

Give your skin the chance to feel young and fresh again and try Ageless Derma’s Eye Cream, a safe natural remedy that will banish dark circles and puffy eyes forever.

Orelia Jewelry

Photobucket

Photobucket

Oftentimes it's hard for me to find nice jewelry, since I don't really like studs or statement pieces, which have been so trendy for the past two years or so. Moreover, even though I'm not super rich and I can't afford spending much on jewelry pieces, the ones you find in H&M or stores like that can feel and look too cheap. Orelia is a brand I've discovered in the Topshop Oxford street flagship store; they make dainty, romantic pieces which I find perfect for my style. The only thing that I bought at their Topshop stand was a pair of  Nerine earrings which I absolutely love. I don't wear dangling earrings often because I think they can be too flashy, but these are so delicate and simple that I'm not afraid to wear them!
Their prices are higher than those of lots of high street jewelry brands, but they're still quite affordable considering their quality.

I'm so glad I discovered this brand! I picked out a few of my favourites from the website:

Home remedies for acne

 photo DSC_0261___2_zpse8c5dc0f.png

If you’ve been following my blog for quite some time, you will know that I suffer from acne. I have suffered from it ever since I was 11 years old, but I’ve only started seeing a dermatologist since a few months ago, so I consider myself an expert on home cures for acne! If you suffer from acne like me, or if you just want to get rid of a few pimples that can appear during that time of the month, I suggest you keep on reading :)

First of all, what causes acne? Most of the time, and in my case, genes. My dad suffered from it when he was a teenager, so I was bound to get it too. It can also be caused from stress, sleep deprivation, wrong skincare routines or hormone imbalances. As Google says (very professional, I know) acne develops as a result of blockages in the follicles; sebaceous glands get bigger and the production of sebum increases. When a sebaceous gland gets clogged by sebum, a blackhead is formed. Very simply put, if bacteria get into that gland, it gets infected and inflammated. Now that we’ve defined what a spot is and what causes it, we can pass on how to cure it!

Of course there are many professional treatments to cure acne, but since I’m not a doctor I prefer not to dwell upon that subject. Thankfully, there also are plenty of quick remedies for acne you can try at home, almost for free.

Raise your hand if you’ve ever got a spot just the day before a party or a special occasion where you wanted your skin to look perfect! Well, one of the quickest ways to get rid of a pimple is applying toothpaste over it. I have used this trick many times, and although it can be a bit harsh for the skin, it significantly reduce the redness on the skin and it dries out the spot in a few hours.

If you’re looking for a milder but still efficient treatment, you can try a honey scrub. Honey has antibacterical properties, it’s moisturizing and it smells gorgeous as well! Put some regular honey from the grocery store (if it’s handmade, even better), add some sugar and mix them until they form a liquidy paste. Then apply it to your skin and gently scrub it moving your hands in circular motions. Leave this scrub/mask for half an hour or so, then rinse everything off. I guarantee your skin will feel and look so much better :)

Other ways to make the skin less inflamed and reduce the appearance of spots are putting a few drops or lemon juice, tea tree or lavender essential oil on a q-tip and then onto the pimple. I could go on and list thousands of natural ingredients you can use to cure your acne, such as aloe, clay, apple cider vinegar, garlic, strawberries, tomatoes… the possibilities are endless!

You got the gist – treating acne at home is all about using vegetables, fruits and such! How do you think that they used to cure acne during the Middle Age? ;)

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Honey

Photobucket

Being late on the band-wagon, as always, I only had the chance to try one of the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains about a month ago. You know I love wearing "my lips but better" colours on my lips, and Honey is no exception. It's a natural, almost berry pink, which looks exactly like the shade of my lips. Its consistency and opacity is like a lipbalm's, but strangely enough I find it quite drying.
What I like about the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain is that it makes my lips look more glossy and plump; the gloss effect will eventually disappear, but the colour will stay for hours. I love the minty scent and the tingly feeling it leaves on my lips! I think it's a really fuss-free product, perfect if you're in a hurry or if you're looking for a natural look; but I wouldn't advice getting it if you like your lipsticks to be very hydrating.

Avon Supershock mascara

About a month ago I ran out of mascara, but at that time I was saving up for my trip to England so I didn't want to spend much on a new one. So, I decided to get the cheapest one I could find, the Avon Supershock mascara, which price varies from brochure to brochure, but I paid only €5.00 for it.
The one I got is in a limited edition packaging which I find quite ugly, but I don't mind after all. It's got a big plastic wand with loads of tiny "spikes". After using it almost every day, I still haven't figured out if I like it or not. Sometimes it separates my lashes perfectly, sometimes it makes them look horrible. Sometimes it makes clumps, sometimes it doesn't. I think the worst problem I have with this mascara is that I can't apply it with my right hand to my left eye, or the application will be different from my right eye! I know it sounds strange, but it's the truth. It can be a problem when your're in a hurry and you don't have the time to apply mascara carefully.
I don't look for much in a mascara, I'm not one of those people who put 10 coats on. My lashes are naturally quite long, so all I ask my mascara to do is separate them, give them a bit of volume and in general make me look more awake! I'm confused about this mascara and I probably wouldn't recommend it, unless you're broke and you can't afford a more expensive one. There are plenty of great mascaras out there, don't waste your time and money with the Avon Supershock.

An introduction to Wishtrend.com

Today I want to introduce you to Wishtrend, an online shop specialized in Korean make-up and beauty brands. You all know how much I'm into Asian make-up! ;)
The concept behind Wishtrend is to help women feel more beautiful, starting by wishing to be so. With the help of some of Korea's best beauty products, I think that will be easy! While on some other online shops you mostly find cheap Korean make-up products, Wishtrend truly offers only high quality brands, such as Mustaev, Caolion, Elishacoy, Ciracle, Pluie and so on. Most of them you can't find anywhere else online. All of this you get at affordable prices and with safe, quick delivery methods, including EMS.
Moreover, Wishtrend offers another unique service called Wishbox. If you're looking for an alternative beauty box subscription like Glossybox or Birchbox, check out Wishbox: for a small amount of money, you can get a selection of skincare and make-up items delivered at your door directly from Korea. How cool is that?
One thing I do love about Wishtrend is that their product pages are full of photos, swatches and product descriptions translated in English, which most of the times you don't find on other websites - you can be sure you're buying the right thing!
Here are some products you can find on Wishtrend:

Soap & Glory Clean, Girls

Photobucket

Photobucket

A few weeks ago, I received a mini sized Soap & Glory Clean, Girls body wash in a swap. When I went to England in February I noticed that they sell loads of different travel sized products, ranging from the obvious toothpaste to dry shampoos, conditioners and so on. I think it's a great way to try new products for a fraction of the price -most of them were only £1,99!- and I really wish they were sold in Italy too.
Anyway, let's talk about Clean, Girls. The first thing that I noticed in this body wash is the colour - it's a pearlescent pale pink. It has a rather thick and creamy consistency and it lathers up nicely. It claims to be moisturizing and it definitely is, but not at a point that I would want to skip my moisturizer after getting out of the shower. In my opinion the best thing about it is the smell - it's a rich, feminine perfume and it contains bergamot, black currant, magnolia, freesia, vanilla, and musk.. according to Google :P
If I could, I would repurchase it because it feels luxurious, it's just so nice!

Have you ever tried it? What do you think about Soap & Glory?

Collection Lasting Perfection concealer

Photobucket

Photobucket

After hearing thousands (literally.) of bloggers and youtubers raving about the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer, I was the happiest girl in the world when I finally got the chance to purchase it in real life (as opposed to online; I don't trust getting face products online, really). I'm a girl who definitely needs concealer in her life. Even though it's getting better now, acne scarring is still a problem for me. The Collection Lasting Perfection concealer is supposed to be a medium to high coverage concealer, and obviously long lasting too, as the name suggests. I've been trying this product for about two weeks, both on red spots and in the undereye area. This concealer definitely deserves the hype it's been getting for the last few years! It' very high coverage (much like my trusty MAC Studio Fix) and it lasts a really long time, if not all day on less oily skin types than mine. Another thing I love about it is that it matches my skin tone perfectly, unlike my MAC Studio Fix, which is a bit too orange for me. I found that the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer is perfect both to brighten up the undereye circles and to cover up any red spot or imperfection.
The best thing about this product is that it's high quality, but it's cheap as chips - I paid only $4.19 for it! I shall be very sad when I'll run out of it!

What do you think about the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer? Have you ever tried it?

My thoughts about.. Alexander McQueen F/W14

 photo alex_zpscd636b99.png

Yesterday I was catching up with Paris fashion week shows and I was simply amazed by the Alexander McQueen collection for Fall 2014. You know that I don't usually write posts about fashion shows here, but I think this show deserved one. Why call it "ready to wear"? Those are definitely not dresses one would want to wear to the office, not even if you worked for Vogue. That is pure couture. Ten gorgeous pieces of art, each one rich in details and carefully handmade. I could see that even from the 450px wide photos from Style.com. I sometimes get really annoyed by endless shows like the Chanel one - sometimes more than 80 models will walk the runway. Now, I absolutely don't want to criticize Karl Lagerfeld who is a genius of our era, but I do love a small collection with a few pieces. I love thinking how many hours of them each one took to make, because that's what makes them true works of art, and true fashion.

Essie Fiji, Neo Whimsical, Lilacism

I've been all about pink-lilac nail polishes for the past days. I just bought Essie Splash of Grenadine a few days ago, but my thirst for delicate hues has still not been quenched! (sounds a bit creepy.) Maybe it's just that Spring is coming. Since I can't afford spending €35 in nail polishes -at least not all at once!- which one do you advice getting first: the uber famous white pink Fiji, the gorgeous pastel pink Neo Whimsical or the white-lilac beauty that is Lilacism?

Geo Mimi Cafe Latte Brown

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

I have received a pair of Geo Mimi Cafe Latte Brown circle lenses from Mukuchu a while ago and I took some time to try them out before posting about them here. First of all, its name is so cute! The other lenses from the series are called Macchiato, Waffle and Cappuccino. How cute is that? They are of course all brown toned, mimicking the hot drinks they're named after. Except Waffle, of course. You get me!
I've tried many lenses in the past, but these came in the prettiest packaging of all. The little cardboard box you see in the pictures contains the two glass vials and the contact lenses case, as well. I think that's really useful for storage, too!
Anyway, onto the actual lenses. There's a reason you won't find any good photos of me wearing these lenses. I tried to put them on for 20 minutes, but they were so uncomfortable and I had to take them of almost immediately. I fear that happened because I'm not that used to wearing circle lenses anymore! That's a shame because these are so pretty! It could also be because they're huge (let's not forget they have 15.0mm diameter!) and I prefer wearing smaller lenses. I have read several reviews of this type of lens and they all are pretty much positive on that aspect :(
While not being very easy to wear, they have a very pretty design. Since the center is clear and the outside is marked with a brown rim, I find that they mix pretty well with my natural iris colour, making my eye look insanely big! I bet they look amazing with falsies and a nice eye make up.. too bad I'm scared to wear them again :(

Have you ever tried the Geo Mimi Cafe Latte Brown lenses? What do you think about them?
