Some mail love

Santa was a bit late this year. Today my mail box was exploding: I received a giveaway prize from Red Leaf I won on Shrimp Salad Circus, my long awaited decoden purchase from Shangai, a letter from an American penpal and a Christmas present from my best friend!

Photobucket

Here's what I got from Red Leaf. I was supposed to get this long time ago, but I guess it got stuck at the custom-house. It's a handmade face moisturizing lotion with oatmeal, milk and honey! It has a super nice smell and I can't wait to try it. The small bottle is a sample of the same product.

Photobucket

And this is my decoden order! I'm still waiting for another one before I start my project though, I need more rhinestones. I got 300 pearlized peachy rhinestones 2mm wide. I don't know what I was thinking when I bought these, because I thought they were bigger! They are so tiny instead. I was probably attracted by their colour. I bought 6 rose cabochons and a mix of 100 pearlized cabochons as well. I got everything on Etsy for a very low price, and I think that's why they took so long to get to me (almost 2 months!)

What's the best nude palette?

So, I was doing some research because I definitely need a nude palette, but if I couldn't choose earlier, now I have simply no clue.. I want them all!

What palette do you think is the best?

Includes 10 shades and a Smudge Stick shade in a matte brown.

Includes 32 shades.

Includes 20 eyeshadows and 10 lip colors.

Includes 12 shades.
Includes 12 eyeshadows.

Urban Decay Naked palette 2 - $50
Includes 12 eyeshadows.

So. I really can't choose. Personally I'd go for the Naked palette - hundreds of people have told me this is the best nude palette, but it's a bit too pricey for me. The NYX Nude on Nude looks great aswell, but I don't like the fact that it includes lip tints - I wouldn't use them, so it'd be a waste of money! The Stila In The Light looks gorgeous too. The Sleek Au Naturel and the ELF Pro Mini Eyeshadows are little nice palettes, but maybe their quality is a bit lower than the others.

Your advice would be so appreciated! Let me know what you think (:

My first swap + BareMinerals Pretty Amazing lipgloss review

I have recently discovered make-up swapping and I love it! I think it's great because you can have access to products that aren't available in your country. Of course there's online shopping for that, but swapping is much more fun to me, and you can also make other people happy :) I love getting mail and I think it's the same for everyone. A few days ago I received my first swap from a lovely girl from Ireland. Here's what she sent me.

Photobucket

a BareMinerals Pretty Amazing lipgloss in Moxie along with little Essence and Bourjois nail polishes :)

So, the BareMinerals Pretty Amazing lipgloss is ... pretty amazing. This is the first product from Bare Escentuals I've ever tried. First of all, the packaging looks very nice and classy, and the applicator works well considering this lipgloss is quite thick.

Photobucket

This lipgloss is very highly pigmented. It's a very bright pink, I'd call it a "Barbie pink"! Ok, maybe it's a bit too bright for my taste and I wouldn't consider it for an everyday use because I generally go for neutrals, but it's a nice colour anyway. I think I'll use this lipgloss a lot in the summer, because it is so saturated!

Photobucket

What I love about this product: its smoothness. It's very easy to apply and it doesn't bleed. It stays on for white a long time considering it's a lipgloss - about 3 or 4 hours.
What I don't like about this product: as I said, this shade is a bit too ... noticeable for me! It suits me because I have light brown hair, but again, I like to wear neutrals. I got this in a swap and I'm happy I had the chance to try something new, but I don't think I would buy this lipgloss if I had the chance to. Maybe I'd choose another shade! :)

Lucky make-up day

Photobucket

Make-up wise, today is definitely a lucky day. Earlier this morning I was feeling a bit down, so after school I went to a local beauty shop to cheer myself up with a little something. I approached myself to the Dior stand and I saw this beauty...

Photobucket

Photobucket

The Dior Rouge 217 Or Etoilé! I have been wanting it so badly ever since I saw it on the Dior newsletter. It's part of the Christmas collection so it's a limited edition. I couldn't wait to get my hands on it, so I decided to buy it - but now my wallet is crying... sigh :(
The shop assistant also gave me some samples, and God only knows how much I love them.

Photobucket

Then when I came back I found a lovely package from Meg's Makeup! If you don't know that  website already, you should know that it gives you the chance to redeem prizes in make-up with the points you get by posting comments and generally being active on the site. You can't choose what to redeem though. A month ago I decided to redeem something with the 50 points I had, and here's what I found in the mail today!

Photobucket

A beautiful Urban Decay eyeshadow in Stalker. It's my first UD product, I can't wait to try it!

Photobucket

Photobucket

a Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour blush in Flush. I'm not sure it's the right shade for me, but it's a beautiful one indeed and Tarte is a high quality brand. And look at the packaging.. it's so sweet!

I was supposed to received another item by Tarte, an eyeliner I think, but unfortunately it's been stolen. When I took the package out of the mail box, I noticed it was a biit broken, but only when I fully opened it I realized there was one item missing. Only its box was left. I don't know how it could happen, and I was a bit disappointed about it. But again I got two other items and it totally made my day :)

If you want an invite to Meg's Makeup, just leave a comment here or email me at francivusk at hotmail dot it ! It's an amazing website, I assure you :)

You'll read the reviews of all those products in a while! x

Review: Anatomicals The Hottie Tottie is Never Spotty facial cleanser

A few days ago I was in a beauty shop and I noticed a new brand: Anatomicals. I decided to buy a few products that I'll show you in the next reviews. Let's have a look at the first one: The Hottie Tottie is Never Spotty facial cleanser!

Photobucket

Photobucket

What I love about this product: I have quite oily and acne-prone skin, so finding a facial cleanser that works for me is quite hard. While it doesn't make my blemishes go away, this product certainly cleanses my skin deeply without being too aggressive. Moreover, it's cheap -I paid about €4.95 for 150ml!- and easy to get. And look at the packaging - I just love its quirkiness.

What I don't like about this product: well, actually I have nothing negative to say about this product!

If you're looking for a nice face cleanser that you can use everyday without fearing for your skin, I definitely suggest buying the The Hottie Tottie is Never Spotty facial cleanser by Anatomicals. I tried many products because I have a strange type of skin and this one of the best I've ever bought. I think I'll stick to it for a long time!

PS: this month's giveaway is coming sooooon. Sooner than you think! Maybe even tomorrow ;)

H&M Confetti Kisses

Hello!
I am so proud of my current manicure I want everyone to know, haha. I suck at doing my nails, so please forgive me. Actually, becoming a better make-up artist is one of my 2012 resolutions ;)
I am currently obsessing over anything that sparkles, and as soon as I saw this nail polish in H&M I had to get it!

Photobucket

I used this polish as a base. It's a normal, plain light pink shade, the one you'd use for a french manicure.

and this is the final result!

Kiko Luscious Cream Lipstick #500

I had been looking for a nude lipstick for some time when a few days ago I found this nice Kiko lipstick. Let's have a look at it!

Before / After
Photobucket

What I love about this product:
First of all, I love the shade. You can't really see it in the photo, but it's way fairer than my lips and I love that. The light tone is perfect when you want to focus on the eyes and not on the lips.
Another thing I loved about this product is the texture: it's very creamy, so it's easy to apply this lipstick. Actually, it's so creamy that I have to blot  it on a tissue a bit to make the colour look more natural.

What I don't like about this product:
It doesn't stay really much on your lips - about an hour or two, so it needs frequent reapplication. Also, I don't find the packaging very handy, as you have to push down the upper part and pull a bit until the stick comes down.

I would definitely buy this product again. It's a nice little lipstick and it's quite cheap as it costs only about €7.

A bad nail polish experience

A few days ago I was wandering in a little beauty shop in my town when I saw a golden sparkling nail polish. Since lately I've been developing a thing for all things golden and it was quite cheap, I decided to buy it.

When I got home I opened it, and it had the worst smell ever - not the typical nail polish smell. I started to apply it, but one coat didn't cover completely my nails as I wanted it to, so I applied more (about three coats). I didn't like the final result at all; my nail was still showing, but I decided to keep it anyway and let it "ruin" so I could remove it more easily, as all the cheap nail polishes usually get damaged in a few days.

But this one didn't! This one didn't even get chipped after one week, so yesterday I decided to finally remove it. It was AWFUL. It just didn't want to go away. I kept on rubbing and rubbing until some thin layers of nail started to fall off.. it didn't hurt, it was just painful to see my nails so damaged. Thank god I had a good nail hardener handy. So what I learned from this experience is: never, ever buy cheap nail polishes, even if they look nice, even if you have no money.

(by the way, the nail polish I'm talking about is by Donnapiù (unknown brand) and it doesn't even have a name or code. What the hell did I have in mind when I bought it?
